Venice Archives
A wealth of Venice history can be found in the Venice Archives and historical displays at the Triangle Inn.
The Inn was originally built in 1927 as a rooming house. After World War II it became a private home and in the 1950’s it was converted into apartments. Thus it stayed until 1991 when the city purchased and moved it to house the archives.
The Italian style the city master plan called for is distinguished in this building by it’s triangle shape, the round tower, and green cement tile roof.
One of the permanent exhibits is on the life of Dr. Fred Albee an extraordinary successful surgeon who was instrumental in the creation of Venice. Another permanent exhibit is a collection fossils found locally by Roy and Helen Burgess. As this area is famous for fossilized sharks teeth those did not surprise me, the rhino and other fossils did!

Other exhibits on local history ranging from the planning of this very well designed city to the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, who made their Winter home here for many decades, change periodically.
